The Lord Mayors Parade - 2003

We took part in the Lord mayor's parade on 26th of May, through the City of Oxford. This was a 'skating- float'. The theme was countries of the world - so we were there in aid of our efforts to go to the European cup in July. The idea was to promote the sport, the club and to raise some money. It was also set to be great fun.

We had acquired a job lot of whistles from the car boot sale on the previous day - and made very good use of them. Every so often, Aldie would cry 'WHISTLE POSSY" and all other sound was drowned out by a monotone shriek. My ears are still ringing!

Me and my mate the Mayor. He recognised us from the OXRAD presentation evening.

We assembled at the start and the Mayor does his rounds of inspection. Great parading weather.

Off we go. Dax collects donations from onlookers and offers to wash peoples cars (Now there's an idea...!). The net didn't catch many fish that day.

The idea was to have a mini game enacted with a goalie and ref giving red cards- but trying to coordinate this lot....

A rowdy bunch.

Adjustments required half way through.

Oxford sightseers and shoppers didn't know what had hit them.
